Task 2: Measuring and Comparing the Abiotic Factors of Two Ecosystems/Monitoring an Artificial Ecosystem
What is your task?
This task will consist of 3 parts.
Part 1: You will be attending an excursion to Herdsman Lake where you will measure the biotic and abiotic factors of a natural wetland.There will be a worksheet to complete at the excursion
Part 2: Based on your understanding of what makes a biodiverse and sustainable ecosystem, you will then create your own artificial wetland ecosystem. You will monitor this ecosystem over a 8 week period
Part 3: You understanding will be assessed by an in-class presentation on your observations of monitoring this ecosystem. Lastly, you will sit a short validation test based on the concepts you have learned about wetland ecosystems.
Total % of final mark: This is worth 15% of your mark
